While state and local leaders chart the economic recovery from COVID-19, Californians for Energy Independence is reminding policymakers that in-state energy production provides thousands of jobs and billions in tax revenues for state and local budgets.
Radical activists have repeatedly demanded that California “keep oil and gas in the ground.” But less production in California will only result in more oil imports to meet our energy needs – effectively sending energy jobs and revenues overseas instead of fueling local economies in-state.
As the state faces record unemployment and a $54 billion budget deficit, policymakers must ground their decision-making in reality, not activist rhetoric. California energy jobs and revenues are needed now more than ever.
